Act on the suspicion of child abduction

If you share custody of your child or you have sole custody and you fear that the other parent is leaving Denmark with your child without your consent, there is probably an acute risk of child abduction. Child abduction also occurs when a child is brought from abroad to Denmark without the consent of the parent abroad.

If a child is abducted from abroad to Denmark, the family court in Denmark will decide the case. In this situation, you are entitled to free legal assistance and a lawyer will be appointed.

Attorney Pernille Bergholt Buhl has been appointed by the Ministry of Justice and included on the list of lawyers specially qualified to assist parents in child abduction cases.

It’s important that you contact the right authorities quickly

If you are in a child abduction emergency and the child has not yet been taken abroad, it is important that you contact the police as soon as possible so that the borders can be closed for departure and the child abduction can be prevented.
